The Oklahoma Sex and Violent Crime Offender Registry is the highest ranked site without a mapping function, an essential function that should be added to this site. Oklahoma offers three distinct and useful searches: basic, by appearance and by offense.

Information Provided:  

The profiles include a complete physical description and some crime information. Home address is included, but work and school are not. 

Search Functions:  

This site offers three types of searches. You can do a basic search, search by appearance and search by offense. If you are suspicious of a particular person you have seen the appearance search will be useful. The offense search is limited to narrowing your results by aggravated and or habitual. These three searches function well, but without mapping and risk assessment, the usefulness of Oklahoma’s sex offender registry is questionable for most. 

Additional Site Features:  

Though Oklahoma’s registry doesn’t have many additional features, you are able to read legal information and print sex offender’s profiles. The Oklahoma Sex and Violent Crime Offender Registry has a comprehensive help section that explains the entire site.

However, it lacks the essential mapping function that most users need for a site to be useful in locating sex offenders in their neighborhoods. Oklahoma has the start of a helpful community service, but needs to develop the site to meet the standards set by higher ranked states.
