Arkansas’ Sex Offender Registry offers minimum information on Level 3 (high-risk) and Level 4 (Sexually Violent Predators) sex offenders. This is the only state to omit a specific address. The home page is limited to the search function, Sex Offender Registry Download, and information about registration including printable forms. This registry supplies the information required by law, but does not address the safety concerns of residents. Other states include complete addresses, the mapping function, email alerts and safety guidelines. The Arkansas Sex Offender Registry may be adequate for law enforcement, but falls short for Arkansas residents.

Information Provided:  

Each sex offender profile includes offender’s name, block of a Particular Street, race, and gender, date of birth, charge(s) and risk level. The charge is posted without a date or details. 

Search Functions:  

Searching is limited to the offender. You need only put in a first initial on either the first name or the last name to get a list of sex offenders. Searches may be refined by street name, city, county, zip code, race, gender and risk level. This site also has a search by state function, which lists sex offenders who have moved to another state. Only city and state are reported in this type of search. 

Additional Site Features:  

In terms of additional information, more is posted for offenders than the community. They post information about who is required to register, links to their sex offender registration form, sex offender change of address form and so on. They have a link to a victim guide, but we did not see information regarding prevention or awareness.

Ease of Use:  

This site is easy to find and performing searches is simple. You can quickly find this site through a search engine if you do not have a direct link.

Summary:  

The Arkansas sex offender registry site is easy to find and use, but the information is incomplete and insufficient to protect the residents of Arkansas.
